Mandalas

Mandalas originate in the ancient wisdoms. Their circular basis is symbolic. Circles have no beginning and no end. The hands on a clock keep moving gradually round the circular face, showing us that there is motion, yet time never begins or ends. They represent softness, process of evolution, eternity, the divine life force that keeps our reality in motion. Circles symbolise wholeness, vitality, completion, perfection. They hold and contain energy, allowing for growth and supporting it. Circles literally shape our world. Circles ARE our world! Think about this:

  • Stop and picture the planets for a moment.
  • When you start drawing something - how often do you start with a circle?

In the world of crystals, circular spheres are believed to amplify the energy of the crystal and direct it outward in all direction. circles also form the basis for the design of many crystal activation grids (my mandalas can be used as crystal grids too)

In energy work, the chakras (energy hotspots within our bodies energetic field) are torus shaped (that is, a donut type circle shape, which both draws energy in to its centre whilst simultaneously pushing energy out.)

In colour therapy we begin with a set of cards which match the seven core chakra colours- which are also the colours of the rainbow. Picture the circular arc of a rainbow!

Mandalas have many uses -to chart time, to share stories, to focus energy for meditation and to induce healing. The Psychiatrist Carl Jung used a form of mandala to process his own life experiences. He began with a circle to represent the self, then filled it with drawing and colour to articulate his thoughts and feelings in illustrative form. Through this process, he discovered their power to assist his clients in communicating and working through their own issues too, in a form of what would be described today as a kind of art journalling.

This art journalling process is a method which i have found helpful for my own healing as it is a means of expressing thoughts, feelings and processes in drawn form. This form of creative expression is a powerful and freeing technique. i have found that when in the true creative flow I am also most closely connected to universal energy, and able to act as a channel for communicating and directing healing intent.

It is from this spiritually connected creative place that I have been able to create my own intuitive artworks, a complex blend of colour therapy principles, crystal imagery, reiki symbolism and channelled messaging. I am delighted to be able to share them with you
